To celebrate its 70th Anniversary, the Alliance Française of Washington D.C. (AFDC) hosted its biennial Fashion Show “Beyond the Little Black Dress” on September 28th at the French Embassy. This fourth edition helped raise necessary funds to support and strengthen its cultural programs.
The event, which featured personalities from the realms of fashion and diplomacy, showed the most select of emerging, talented worldwide designers, entrepreneurs and artists of the 2019 scene (Le Bustiere, Mindy Lam, Sandra Mark, Katya Avdeev, Isabel dos Santos (who made her debut and launched her first collection), Avgousta Theodoulou and Iva Pfeiffer), and highlighted the growing participation of women as creators in the fashion world showing that Style and Talent are alive on both sides of the Atlantic, France and the US.
Sarah Diligenti, Executive Director of the Alliance Française said:
“The night was spectacular, we were sold out, the guests were in awe of the outstanding beauties and designs that walked down the runway!”
“I cannot thank all our sponsors and supporters enough and of course a huge thank you to all those who attended thereby significantly contributing to our fundraising efforts.”
Indira Gumarova, Founder of Diplomacy and Fashion said:
“I was so pleased to bring to Washington DC fashion talents from different places around the world which are often under represented. I want to be a sort of silk route for them upon which they reach US capital.”
“Our next Fashion Show will be in 2021! Contact us now to be a part of it!”,continued Sarah Diligent.
